UK in most dangerous period I've known, military chief says

UK Chief of the Defence Staff Sir Richard Knighton told the BBC that the UK is in the most dangerous period since the Cold War. He noted that Russian strategic aircraft incursions into UK airspace in the first five months of 2026 equal the total for all of 2025. He warned that Russia is raising the stakes and risking crossing a line, and called for the UK to prepare for longer wars like Ukraine. The Defence Investment Plan is expected before a NATO summit on 7 July.
