UN: Four candidates in the running to succeed Antonio Guterres

Four candidates are vying to succeed Antonio Guterres as UN Secretary-General: Chile's Michelle Bachelet, Argentina's Rafael Grossi, Costa Rica's Rebeca Grynspan, and Senegal's Macky Sall. They underwent a three-hour grilling from the 193 member states and NGOs. Bachelet stated she would be honored if a veto was cast against her candidacy due to her belief in democracy and human rights. Macky Sall is the only candidate not from Latin America, the region from which the next UN chief is traditionally expected to come.
