75-year-old man bags 10 years for defiling 11-year-old girl in Rivers State

The Rivers State Family Court in Port Harcourt sentenced 75-year-old Promise Chukwumatti to ten years imprisonment without an option of fine for defiling an 11-year-old girl. The court also ordered one million naira compensation to the victim's family and inclusion in the state sex offenders' register. Justice Rita Oguguo ruled that the prosecution proved the case beyond reasonable doubt, citing a confessional statement. Chukwumatti had lured the girl with money on her way to school.
