U.S. Dismisses Reports of Sudan Peace Deal, Says Negotiations Still Underway

The United States has dismissed claims that Sudan's warring parties have reached broad agreement on a proposed peace plan. Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs Massad Fares Boulos said reports that all issues had been accepted are inaccurate, and multiple substantive issues remain unresolved. Negotiations are ongoing, while the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) insist on the full withdrawal of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) from all occupied cities. The conflict, which began in April 2023, has displaced millions and caused a severe humanitarian crisis.
