US Hails Kenya’s Partnership in Combating Ebola, Pledges Continued Support

US senior advisor for Arab and African Affairs Massad Boulos met Kenyan President William Ruto in Oslo on June 9, 2026 to discuss Ebola response cooperation. The US contributed over Ksh 25.8 billion (USD 200 million) in direct support, plus Ksh 45.2 billion for other humanitarian aid. The meeting came amid protests in Laikipia against a US-backed Ebola quarantine facility, leaving one dead and over 50 arrested. Both sides also called for a humanitarian truce in Sudan.
