What Afghanistan’s rotten apples tell us about its non-profit sector

A trip to Daikundi province in Afghanistan revealed the failure of NGO projects. Zero-energy storage houses only served a few families, leaving apples rotting under trees. Another project using imported seeds produced poor-quality harvests, with each family receiving only about 450 Afghans ($7) worth of vegetables. Farmers suffered losses with no accountability from the NGOs.
