Alpha Blondy strongly condemns repeated coups in AES countries

At the closing concert of Abidjan Border Forum 2026 at the Abidjan Exhibition Centre, Alpha Blondy condemned repeated coups in Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger, saying they destabilize the sub-region and hold back the continent’s development. He urged Malians to stay with their leader, Assimi Goïta, and called on Niger’s authorities to ensure the July 2023 coup is the last. In Burkina Faso, he denounced successive political ruptures, referring to Maurice Yaméogo and Ibrahim Traoré. The singer also addressed foreign influence in African political crises.
