Hoodlums break into Catholic chapel, cart away Blessed Sacrament in Owerri

The Archdiocese of Owerri confirmed the desecration of the Chapel of Adoration at St. Mulumba Parish in Owerri, following a break-in by unidentified individuals who stole the Blessed Sacrament. According to the parish priest, the suspects accessed the chapel by opening parts of the roof. The Archbishop of Owerri, Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji, has directed parishioners to observe a one-week prayer of reparation from May 1 to May 8, 2026.
