United States prohibits Iranian Airlines from flying globally

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that all Iranian airlines and Tehran-registered planes will be prohibited from landing anywhere in the world starting September 23, 2026. This decision is part of U.S. sanctions aimed at maintaining pressure on Tehran, which has already faced severe restrictions on acquiring aircraft and spare parts. The U.S. and Iran have been in conflict since February, following strikes that killed Iranian leaders, escalating tensions in the region.
