Benin: Port of Cotonou expands cargo collection operations to seven days a week

Starting Saturday, October 24, the Port of Cotonou will operate continuously, including weekends and public holidays. Customs services, cargo handlers, shipping agents, health inspection bodies and banks will all provide services every day. Coordination between public agencies and private operators is intended to simplify procedures for importers and freight forwarders, reduce waiting times and improve cargo flows. The measure forms part of the port’s reforms, including the SIGOP digital project, which uses terminal-confirmed appointments to spread truck arrivals more evenly.

CBAO: How 120 million francs mysteriously disappeared from S. M. Fall’s account

S. M. Fall was informed by his account manager that 120 million CFA francs had disappeared from his CBAO account on Avenue Lamine Gueye, despite his having signed no withdrawal order. The branch manager declined to comment, while CBAO launched an internal audit to determine whether the incident involved a technical failure, a cyberattack, or internal embezzlement. The case adds to other reported scandals at the bank, including the discovery of a 282.554 million CFA franc shortfall at its Tivaouane branch.

Ministers were also tasked with finding buyers for 70,450 tonnes of groundnut cake held by Sonacos and finalizing a state-UNACOIS protocol on customs support. Financing needs for the 2026–2027 agricultural marketing campaign are estimated at more than 200 billion CFA francs, and Lô called for outstanding payments from the agricultural season to be settled.
