Hundreds of youths and civil society advocates staged a peaceful protest in Osogbo, Osun State, demanding the immediate release of schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oriire local government area of Oyo State. The demonstrators marched through major roads, chanting solidarity songs and carrying placards condemning insecurity. Protest leaders urged the Federal Government, state governments, security agencies, and other stakeholders to collaborate for the safe return of the victims. The Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) had earlier protested over the same kidnapping.
