2027: Court fines plaintiff N1m in suit seeking to stop Jonathan’s bid

The Federal High Court in Abuja fined Johnmary Jideobi N1 million for lack of diligence in a suit aimed at stopping former President Goodluck Jonathan from contesting in the 2027 presidential election. Justice Peter Lifu expressed dissatisfaction with the plaintiff's inaction, noting that he had not served the documents to the defendants six months after filing the suit. The case has been adjourned to May 18, 2026, for a definite hearing.
