N'Djamena Forum: How Africa Redirects the Water Challenge

The African Water Forum opened on July 15, 2026 in N'Djamena, gathering several heads of state (Félix Tshisekedi, Romuald Wadagni, Brice Oligui Nguema, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani). Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno stressed that water security is key to development and stability. Over 400 million Africans lack basic drinking water and 700 million lack sanitation. The forum, co-organized with the World Bank, aims to finance infrastructure and boost transboundary cooperation.
