UK orders Google to improve transparency for search services

The UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has ordered Google to rank organic search results using objective and non-discriminatory criteria, increase transparency around rankings, introduce clearer complaint processes and allow users to transfer their search data to authorised third parties. Google has six months to implement the fair ranking requirement and three months for the data portability requirement. The US company accounts for more than 90 percent of UK search queries.

On June 16, 2026, in Yaoundé, Paul Tasong, Minister Delegate at the Ministry of Economy, signed three grant agreements with Jean-Marc Châtaignier, head of the EU delegation to Cameroon, for a total exceeding 37 billion FCFA. The second, 'Accélération numérique au Cameroun' (9.8 billion FCFA), targets SME competitiveness through digitalization. The third, 'Forêts et cacao durables et compétitifs au Cameroun' (17.5 billion FCFA), promotes sustainable cocoa farming and forestry that respect the environment.
