Benin: LD activist Julien Kandé Kansou sentenced to two years in prison

The Court for the repression of economic offenses and terrorism sentenced Julien Kandé Kansou, an activist of the Les Démocrates party, to 24 months in prison and a fine of 10 million CFA francs for electronic harassment and incitement to rebellion. Despite his denial of the charges, the Court followed the public prosecutor's requisitions, which had requested a matching sentence. The defense argued for freedom of expression, but the Court did not accept this argument.
