40-year-old man arrested over alleged killing of pregnant girlfriend in Edo

Edo State police have arrested 40-year-old Samson Ekata over the alleged killing of his pregnant 18-year-old girlfriend in Uromi, in Esan North-East Local Government Area. Commissioner Patrick Daaor said the woman had reportedly lived with the suspect for about a year and that her body was allegedly mutilated after the killing. Ekata admitted killing her, claiming voices and a dream influenced him, and said he transported her body in a Toyota Corolla before dumping it by the roadside. Police credited community cooperation for the arrest and said the suspect would face the full weight of the law.
