Benin: ASF Canada report reveals sexual violence against women journalists

ASF Canada launched an 88-page report on October 29 at the Azalaï Hotel in Cotonou about gender-based violence against women human rights defenders and women journalists in Benin and Senegal. Interviews cited in the report found that 55% of the women surveyed in Benin had experienced such violence, including sexual advances, workplace pressure and professional retaliation. Two journalists describe being raped by media superiors or employers and recount the effects on their careers and health.
