I Ran Away from Nigeria and Never Wanted to Return, Singer Chidinma Says

Singer Chidinma Ekile said that before switching from secular music to gospel, she left Nigeria and tried to secure permanent residency abroad so she would not have to return. Her plan failed, and she said the CEO of Eezee Conceptz was the only person in Nigeria who called and encouraged her while she was abroad. After returning, she asked him for a gospel music contract so she could spend time with God. Chidinma said the transition was driven by her desire for a serious relationship with God, not by an initial ambition to make gospel music.
