Adeboye urges journalists to verify stories before publication

Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, head of the RCCG, urged journalists and social media influencers to verify information before publishing, warning that misinformation can harm reputations and undermine public trust. At a thanksgiving service in Ebute-Metta, Lagos, he clarified that a photo showing him with a placard was taken during a 2020 prayer walk organized at the Christian Association of Nigeria’s request, not during a protest against Goodluck Jonathan, who left office in 2015. He also disputed reports that he had said Bola Tinubu had “done his best,” explaining that he had referred to orders the president issued to rescue children abducted in Oyo State. Adeboye recalled studying investigative journalism principles and urged content creators to use their platforms responsibly.
