AFCON 2028: A First Proposed Date Emerges for the Tournament

A proposed schedule for AFCON 2028, reported by journalist Micky Jnr, sets a preliminary qualifying round for 7–15 June 2027, followed by group qualifiers in September–October and November 2027. The finals could run from 7 June to 10 July 2028 and feature 28 nations, but the CAF Executive Committee has not yet approved the proposal. Libya and Ethiopia have officially bid to host the tournament; Egypt has not formalized its intention, while a joint bid by South Africa, Lesotho and Zimbabwe is reportedly in the works.
