AI opens another growth window for Africa

Dilip Pal argues that Africa can drive another economic transformation through AI by building on its digital infrastructure, mobile financial services and young population. Speaking at McKinsey’s regional forum in Nairobi, he urged the development of solutions grounded in local realities and cited Wonderful AI’s work adapting AI to languages such as Sheng. He says the opportunity depends on reliable infrastructure, quality data and workers equipped for continuous learning. As AI spreads across financial services, healthcare and public services, privacy, accountability and security will become increasingly important.
