Amaechi has made Atiku’s presidential ticket worse, says Wike

Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike criticised the ADC presidential ticket pairing Atiku Abubakar with Rotimi Amaechi, saying it made an already weak team less credible. Speaking at a Rainbow Coalition event in Rivers State, he challenged Atiku to account for his record as vice-president from 1999 to 2007, particularly his role in privatisation. Wike also demanded explanations for financial deals and projects during Amaechi’s 2007–2015 tenure as Rivers State governor, including a gas turbine reportedly sold for $308 million, a proposed specialist hospital costing $39 million, and a monorail project valued at $68 billion. He said politicians should explain how they handled public funds before seeking higher office.
