Benin’s Criet: Driver denies knowing about ammunition found in vehicle

A driver arrested in Kandi with 3,000 12-gauge cartridges in his vehicle appeared before Benin’s Criet on October 19, 2026. He said he did not know about the bag, which was found concealed beneath clothing, and explained that he had picked up 12 passengers from Ghana but did not personally handle their luggage. The presiding judge questioned whether he was responsible for checking packages loaded into his vehicle. The case was adjourned until November 23, 2026, for prosecution submissions and closing arguments.
