Cameroon: Mvondo Ayolo denies rumors — “You can’t hide a head of state’s death”

A rumor posted on X by the account “Human Rights Forum” claimed that Paul Biya had died and that political officials were already discussing his succession. The post, published on Thursday, October 15, attracted hundreds of thousands of views within hours, and the account repeated its claims later that evening. Samuel Mvondo Ayolo, director of the civil cabinet of the presidency, denied the rumor to Jeune Afrique on October 16, saying Paul Biya was “in good health and working.” He also asked: “Do you think you can hide the death of a head of state?”
