CBAO: How 120 million francs mysteriously disappeared from S. M. Fall’s account

S. M. Fall was informed by his account manager that 120 million CFA francs had disappeared from his CBAO account on Avenue Lamine Gueye, despite his having signed no withdrawal order. The bank reportedly advised him to file a complaint against an unknown party over computer hacking, but Fall instead petitioned the Dakar prosecutor’s office directly to seek reimbursement and hold the bank responsible. The branch manager declined to comment, while CBAO launched an internal audit to determine whether the incident involved a technical failure, a cyberattack, or internal embezzlement. The case adds to other reported scandals at the bank, including the discovery of a 282.554 million CFA franc shortfall at its Tivaouane branch.
