Mamadou Gueye, former director of Domains, regains freedom after seven months in detention

Mamadou Gueye, former director of Domains, mayor of Djiddah Thiaroye Kaw and president of AS Pikine, is expected to be released on Thursday, October 22, after the Supreme Court ordered his release under judicial supervision. He had been detained for more than seven months in a suspected land-fraud case. Mamadou Mbaye, a municipal councillor and the mayor’s special adviser for education, welcomed the ruling on RFM and said it confirmed an earlier judicial decision. He described the decision as a relief for the municipality and said the mayor was needed to resume ongoing projects.
