Mine Murder Trial: Court Grants Bail to Four Defendants

The Delta State High Court in Asaba granted bail to four former members of a police anti-crime squad standing trial over the fatal shooting of Oghenemi “Mine” Ogidi in Effurun on April 26. The first defendant, ASP Usman Nuhu, known as “Ogbegbe”, remains in custody; his lawyer, Uche Chibuogwu, said he did not seek bail because of safety concerns and the gravity of the murder charge. The other defendants granted bail are Onoloko Dauroupamo, Okoh Kelechi, Goodluck Kingsley and Omonigho Ahweyevu. The court set bail conditions and adjourned the case until November 17 for the adoption of final written addresses.
