SSANU begins five-day warning strike at Sokoto State University

The SSANU chapter at Sokoto State University began a five-day warning strike on November 2 after a 14-working-day ultimatum to the state government expired. The union is seeking arrears from a 25% salary increase, implementation of a 35% CONTTA allowance, annual increments for eligible members, and payment of outstanding check-off dues. It says talks with government officials failed to resolve the dispute and rejects the plan to delay CONTTA implementation until January 2027. Chairman Ismail Bala Muhammed and secretary Mansur Ahmad warned that the union may launch an indefinite strike if its demands are not met.
