Ted Beleshayi on the ARSP he inherited from Miguel Kashal Katemb: “We were seen as racketeers”

ARSP Director General Ted Beleshayi Kasanda said he found the institution demoralized and no longer respected by the businesses it regulates. Speaking on October 20 during a live Space hosted by Stanis Bujakera Tshiamala, he said the loss of credibility had made the authority seem like a group of “racketeers”; he is awaiting an audit before commenting on the management of his predecessor, Miguel Kashal Katemb. Beleshayi said he revised inspection practices, including repeated checks of the same company and review periods that crossed accounting years before financial records were final. He said clearer, more professional inspections should help companies understand ARSP’s requests and restore the authority’s credibility.
