'We need to come together against banditry, terrorism' — Sultan urges northerners

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar II, called on northern stakeholders to unite against banditry and kidnapping during the 19th Northern Traditional Rulers and Governors’ Meeting in Kaduna. He emphasized that security is a collective responsibility and urged sustained funding for a new security initiative. The Sultan recalled that traditional rulers had warned against violent extremism since 2014 and noted the inauguration of a Board of Trustees to drive security interventions.
