Chad: 3-year-old child dies after falling into an open well

A boy aged about 3 died after falling into a well on the family property in the Mainmanel neighbourhood of Gagal, Chad. According to local accounts, his parents had gone to the fields and he was alone at home when he approached the well and lost his balance. Neighbours tried to rescue him but were unable to save him. Authorities visited the scene, and deputy mayor Tognoudji Taobaye and local hygiene and sanitation chief Wambé Wanga ordered the well closed immediately.
