Benin: The LD party maintains its opposition status, FCBE joins the movement

The Democratic Party confirmed its status as an opposition party in Benin during an extraordinary National Council, following the withdrawal of the FCBE from the opposition bloc. The party's president, Nourénou Atchadé, reaffirmed their opposition status registered since April 26, 2022. The FCBE, having received only 5.95% of the votes in the last presidential election, justified its departure from the opposition due to its electoral underperformance.
