Reps Move to Regulate Nutrition Practice and Protect Nigerians from Harmful Advice

Nigeria’s House of Representatives has begun considering a bill to establish the Nutritionists Registration Council of Nigeria. At a public hearing on Tuesday, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas said the proposed regulatory framework should strengthen professional competence and protect the public from harmful or misleading nutritional advice. Committee chair Chike Okafor said the committee would consider submissions both for and against the bill before making recommendations to the House.
