2027: Ohanaeze Canada urges Ndigbo to prioritise elections

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Canada is urging Igbo voters in Nigeria and the diaspora to prioritise participation in the 2027 presidential election over festive activities. Its president, Chief Dr Anicetus Nwizundu, advised those travelling home for Christmas or New Year to arrange to return to their polling locations before the vote, scheduled for January 16, 2027. The group is not endorsing any party or candidate and called for peaceful voting based on individual choices. It said participation could help shape governance amid the country’s economic challenges.

2027: PDP Says It Will Never Support Tinubu’s Re-election

The Taminu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said it would never support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027. In a statement issued Tuesday by National Publicity Secretary Ini Ememobong, it responded to Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike’s reported plan to align his political structure with Tinubu. The faction said opposition parties should offer an alternative to the incumbent and, if they form an alliance, should do so with one another rather than the governing party. Oyo council polls: State budgets N1.71bn, local governments to contribute N2.57bn

The Oyo State government plans to spend 1,711,200,000 naira on the forthcoming local government election, while local government areas will contribute 2,566,800,000 naira. Commissioner for Information Dotun Oyelade announced the figures in a statement on Tuesday. The election is scheduled for December.
