Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba announced on June 10, 2026, that school terms will be standardized to 12 weeks each starting from the 2027 academic year, aiming to reduce learner fatigue and school unrest. Currently, the first term is 12 weeks, second term 14 weeks, and third term 9 weeks. Ogamba also ordered the formation of a multi-stakeholder team to investigate the causes of recent unrest in 204 secondary schools.
