'Obi inventing stories to attract undue sympathy' - Presidency

The Nigerian Presidency dismissed allegations by Peter Obi, former Anambra governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, saying he is inventing stories to attract sympathy. Special adviser Bayo Onanuga called Obi's claims of political persecution and an airport car incident unfounded and misleading, accusing him of being a pathological liar. Onanuga stated Obi's narrative is fabricated to deflect attention from his credibility deficit and his party's problems. He also denied the government is targeting Fidelity Bank, in which Obi has a substantial interest.
