The Global Fund has cut Kenya's HIV funding by 18.2% to Sh26.4 billion ($205 million) for 2026-2028, down from Sh32.3 billion in the previous cycle. This reduction, affecting 13 sub-Saharan African countries, follows a shortfall in the Fund's replenishment. Kenya is also dealing with the near-total withdrawal of Pepfar support. Meanwhile, 1.4 million people live with HIV, new infections rose from 16,752 in 2024 to 19,991 in 2025, and mother-to-child transmission remains at 7%.
