CAK fines to companies triple amid increased crackdown on errant firms

The cumulative fines imposed by the Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK) against errant firms more than tripled to Sh116.71 million in the year ended June 30, 2025. This reflects a 3.5 times increase from the Sh33.06 million levied the previous year, marking one of the highest levels recorded in at least seven years. The penalties are linked to practices such as infringing consumer rights and consummating mergers without approval.
