Haut-Katanga: Major police operation leads to more than 500 arrests in Kambove

A special operation by the Congolese National Police, supervised by divisional commissioner Blaise Kilimbalimba, led to more than 500 people being detained in Kambove, near Likasi. The operation aimed in part to end the illegal occupation of public-service roles at the Kambove Mining site. In Likasi, police dismantled a suspected gang network, while in Lubumbashi they seized around 30 firearms and ammunition at Major Vangu camp. The police will maintain a heightened security presence in Kambove to restore state authority and prevent crime.
