Niger First Lady mobilises stakeholders for maternal, child health campaign

Hajiya Fatima Umaru Bago, wife of Niger State Governor, flagged off the 2026 first round of the Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Week (MNCHW) in Tafa. She called on wives of local government chairmen, women leaders, and religious institutions to mobilize communities for healthcare access. Health Commissioner Dr. Murtala Bagana emphasized that women's and children's health is critical to the state's development. Development partners including WHO and UNICEF commended the initiative as a demonstration of commitment to improving health outcomes.
