LAWMA warns hospitals, waste handlers over Ebola prevention

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has issued a precautionary advisory to hospitals and medical waste operators following an Ebola outbreak in East Africa. Managing Director Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin stated that no Ebola case has been confirmed in Nigeria, but emphasized preparedness. LAWMA directed health facilities to enforce hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment, environmental decontamination, and proper segregation of infectious waste. The authority will continue monitoring and compliance to protect public health.
