Opposition parties unite against APC, plan single candidate for 2027 polls

Opposition parties in Nigeria have agreed to present a single presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections during a national summit in Ibadan. They expressed concerns over the apparent dominance of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which threatens the credibility of elections. Taminu Turaki, factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, stated they would resist APC's attempts to impose a one-party state and called for a review of the Electoral Act of 2026.
