Local Transformation of Agricultural Products: Minister Goubalan Meets with Stakeholders

From June 11 to 13, 2026, the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Adin Yeton Bloukounon Goubalan, toured the Collines department and northern Benin to meet with agricultural stakeholders. He inspected local processing projects, including a cassava unit in Paouignan under public-private-sector co-management, and a future rice plant by the Premium group in Dangbo. In the cashew sector, the government is fighting fraud that diverts raw materials to neighboring countries. Cotton production, which has declined, aims for at least 700,000 tonnes in the 2026-2027 season.

PenCom, NURTW to enroll 9m transport workers in pension scheme

The National Pension Commission (PenCom) and the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) have begun discussions to enroll approximately nine million transport workers into the Personal Pension Plan (PPP) under the Contributory Pension Scheme. The proposal, unveiled during a visit in Abuja, includes an automated daily contribution system integrated into existing transport revenue platforms and a financing program for modern mass-transit vehicles. NURTW President Musiliu Akinsanya highlighted that the model would improve loan repayment efficiency and encourage long-term savings among informal workers.
