The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared an Ebola outbreak in the Ituri province of the Democratic Republic of Congo a public health emergency of international concern. Approximately 246 suspected cases and 80 deaths have been reported, with 8 laboratory-confirmed cases. The virus, caused by the Bundibugyo virus, has also spread to Uganda, where two confirmed cases have been reported. The WHO recommended establishing emergency operation centers to monitor and implement infection prevention measures.
