Murkomen Declares Parts of Marsabit Security Disturbed for 30 Days Over Rising Insecurity

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has declared parts of Marsabit County as security disturbed due to escalating banditry and inter-communal violence. The declaration, published in the Kenya Gazette on April 24, takes effect from April 23, 2026, for thirty days. Thirteen areas, all designated as 'Hillo', are affected, and residents are required to surrender any firearms immediately. Inter-ethnic tensions and retaliatory attacks are the main drivers of unrest in the region.
