Two wildfires have scorched more than 1,300 hectares (3,200 acres) of forest south of Paris, including the UNESCO biosphere reserve of Fontainebleau. About 1,000 people were evacuated. Firefighters deployed four Canadair aircraft, two Dash planes, and three water-bombing helicopters. Jean-Marc Sicard, commander of rescue operations, said 600 firefighters remained mobilized by Monday night. France is enduring its third heatwave in less than three months, and scientists link such extremes to human-driven climate change.
