U.S. Announces Tougher Student Visa Rules Introducing Four-Year Stay Limit

The Trump administration issued a final rule limiting most student visas to four years, ending the 'duration of status' policy that allowed foreign students to stay indefinitely. DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin said the move aims to curb abuse of the system. F and J visa holders must now apply for extensions through USCIS with biometric screening. The grace period after studies is shortened from 60 to 30 days.
