Africa CDC director-general Jean Kaseya warned that the Ebola outbreak in East Africa could be the 'worst ever'. At least 837 people have been infected in the Democratic Republic of Congo, with 196 deaths, and 19 cases and two deaths in Uganda. Kaseya compared this outbreak to the 2014 West Africa epidemic and the 2018 DRC outbreak, which killed more than 11,000 and 2,000 respectively. The Bundibugyo strain of the virus is causing the current outbreak.
