Russia to send first diesel tanker to the US amid Trump deal

Russia will send a first tanker carrying 40,000 tonnes of diesel to the United States on Thursday, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said, without naming the destination port. Moscow lifted its diesel export ban on October 9 after imposing it to address shortages worsened by Ukrainian drone strikes. US envoy Steve Witkoff said several tankers were being prepared and that Russia could also supply large quantities of fertilisers. Donald Trump has previously cited planned Russian exports of 300,000 tonnes, followed by 500,000 tonnes in November and one million tonnes thereafter, as US consumers continue to face high fuel prices.
