Zanzibar earns USD 12 million from travel Insurance as tourists get peace of mind

Since October 2024, Zanzibar's mandatory travel insurance has earned US$12 million annually. Tourists pay $44 ($22 for EAC members) for coverage including emergency medical care and rescue. Children aged 3-17 pay $22; those under 3 are exempt. ZIC's Abdul-Halim Muhammad stated the scheme provides peace of mind to visitors.

Kaduna begins return airlift of 2026 Hajj pilgrims on June 15

The Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency announced that the airlift of pilgrims from Saudi Arabia back to Nigeria will commence on June 15, 2026. Chairman Malam Salihu S. Abubakar stated that pilgrims will be returned in the same sequence in which they arrived for the 2026 Hajj. No pilgrim will be permitted to alter their return flight outside the agency's arrangements. The agency urged all pilgrims to cooperate for a smooth operation.

Hajj: Pilgrims warned against excess luggage

The Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has advised pilgrims to strictly adhere to prescribed luggage weights to avoid delays on their return journey from Saudi Arabia. Sheikh Haliru Maraya cited two plane crashes that killed Nigerian pilgrims in 1973 and 1991. He urged pilgrims to be good ambassadors of Kaduna State. The first return flight is scheduled for June 15, 2026.
